The strongest objection to our thesis
Predators are not useless. Anyone claiming that is making it too easy.
Keystone predators can maintain diversity, and the loss of large predators can trigger trophic cascades. This research belongs at the centre of any honest critique of the Predator Principle.
Our answer is not denial. We distinguish an ecologically embedded interaction from a detached organising principle that privatises gains and leaves harm to the larger system.
